In an era of fake followers, fake filters, fake friends, are you craving something real?

I don’t know about you, but I want everything in my life to be real.

Real friendships, real connections, real conversations, and yes, real followers. Is there room in our lives for anything to be less than genuine?

I personally actually love the idea of growing organically – be it a blog page, a podcast, a relationship, my own healing. I love being able to look back and say…”I did it!” With Gods help of course.

Recently, I was looking forward to celebrating a small, yet significant milestone by achieving my first 1,000 IG followers! With only 24 more to go, I was surprised when I woke to 100 new followers overnight!

I thought…am I going viral? Did one of my reels reach the masses? Have a treasure trove of YouTubers suddenly located me on Instagram? Ummm nope! Immediately let down by the realization of a “bot” account being the cause. Haven taken it upon “themselves” to “gift” me an increase to my following base.

But really, what did I gain? Zero engagement? Something I hadn’t work for? A bunch of soulless-run accounts for the mere purpose of…”show?”

Instead of feeling a sense of gratitude, I actually felt a bit of…ummm, I don’t know, robbed!

Robbed because I was sooooo close to a new milestone I had actually worked hard for. One that I looked forward to celebrating…to thanking God for. For the organic growth that came as a result of me simply being, me.

Am I dramatic, is it not that serious? You tell me. We’re getting into it on convo #35 of Thee Ultimate Love Letter Podcast. Listen Now!
